Rebar mass and order quantity calculator.

Estimate reinforcing bar mass from diameter, number of bars, cut length, and an explicit allowance for laps or cutting waste.

A quick quantity check for reinforcement.

The common mass-per-metre relationship is useful when a bar schedule is being assembled or checked. The allowance is applied to length, then multiplied by the approximate mass per metre.

Governing relationship

For nominal diameter d in millimetres, mass per metre is approximately d²/162 kg/m. Order mass is order length multiplied by that mass per metre.

Do not replace the bar schedule.

  • Confirm bar marks, shape codes, couplers, hooks, bends, laps, and anchorage separately.
  • Confirm the steel grade and supplier mass tolerances when precision matters.
  • Use the reinforcement drawings and bending schedule as the controlling project record.
